MnDOT is actively seeking funding for subsequent phases of the project which extend the E-ZPass lanes to Hwy 77 near the airport. The E-ZPass lanes between Hwy 100 and I-35W are anticipated to open in fall 2026. This multi-phase project brings other safety improvements along this busy Twin Cities interstate including a new ramp at the I-35W and I-494 interchange, new bridges at Portland Ave., Nicollet Ave., and 12th Ave., and the addition of a new pedestrian bridge at Chicago Ave. A four-year construction project on I-494 in Edina, Bloomington and Richfield includes adding new E-ZPass lanes between Hwy 100 and I-35W. Work has begun on the next Minnesota E-ZPass lanes. It’s good to research the state’s E-ZPass rules prior to travel. Please remember, each E-ZPass facility has different rules for using the lanes. While full interoperability is still a couple of years away, the addition of Georgia makes traveling to popular eastern and southeastern destinations even easier for Minnesota E-ZPass members! making them interoperable with each other. This is part of an overall goal to connect all tolling facilities throughout the U.S. This means you can use your Minnesota E-ZPass tag throughout Georgia as well as the other E-ZPass states.
